We Were Offered $1Million To Impeach Fayose - Assembly Member

Uneasy calm still hovering around the Ekiti State House Of Asembly  over arrests of some lawmakers and top government functionaries by the Department of State Services DSS assumed a new twist on Tuesday as members of the house have alleged that they were offered a sum of $1 million to impeach the Governor, Dr. Ayodele Fayose.
The lawmakers, while speaking to newsmen on Tuesday 8th March has vowed not to allow themselves to be co-opted into any devilish plot to truncate the Government of Fayose, added that they were prepared to spend the rest of their tenure in DSS cell rather than joining some evil-doers in this sinister intention.
At a press conference on Tuesday, Chairman, House Committee on Information of the Ekiti state House of Assembly Hon. Gboyega Aribisogan, disclosed that eight lawmakers had been visited by some men, who claimed to be officials of the DSS and made financial inducement if they key into the agenda.
Meanwhile, The Nigerian Senate is investigating the alleged invasion of the Ekiti State House of Assembly by the Department of State Services (DSS).
The Senate Committee on National Security and Intelligence has been mandated to conduct the investigation. Senator Biodun Olujimi, one of the senators from Ekiti state informed the Senate, that on March 4, armed operatives from the DSS invaded the chamber of the Ekiti State House of Assembly and abducted four members of the House and some top government functionaries and were moved to Abuja.
“The Senate is disturbed that on Friday, March 4th 2106, the chamber of the Ekiti State House of Assembly was invaded by armed men of the Department of State Services.
Senator Biodun Olujimi is worried that the reason of the invasion and abduction of the lawmaker is still unknown not minding that the various committees of the House were meeting, more than 10 officers of the Security outfit armed to the teeth invaded the assembly complex shooting sporadically into the air, thereby causing panic among members and staff of the House who had to run for safety and were afraid for their lives,
Senator Olujimi said the action by the DSS was not only unconstitutional and illegal, but also a plot intended to harass and intimidate the people of Ekiti State. She said the action of the DSS was also outside the scope of its mandate and urged the National Assembly to step in to defend and uphold the constitution of Nigeria, noting that at the end of the commotion created by the DSS four members of the Assembly Men’s whereabouts could not be ascertained.
