$1Million Cash Was Found In Badeh's 1.1Billion Naira Home In Abuja - EFCC

Followng the recent denial of the $1million cash found at the residence of the former Chief of Defence Staff Air Marshall Alex Badeh by his lawyer Mr. Samuel Zibiri, The Economic and Financial Crimes Commission EFCC has insisted that the said amount was found in the ex CDS house in Abuja which he bought  at a dollar equivalent of 1.1Billion Naira misappropriated from the Nigeria Airforce account while he was still the Chief of air staff sometimes in 2013.

Air Marshall Badeh who has however denied ownership of the house where the cash was found by the EFCC and his other personal belongings were found in the said apartment including photographs and other personal properties during the raid carried out by the operatives of the commission.

Lawyer to the EFCC Mr Rotimi Jacobs SAN going against the bail application filed by Badeh in Court today who was conspicuously absent from trial as the Prison authorities failed to produce him in court. According to the trial Judge Justice Okon Abang had earlier on Monday ordered that the former chief of Defence staff be remanded in prison together with his accomplice in the N3.79b fraud Iyalikam Nigeria Limited and be produced today 10th March to deliberate on the bail application by his Lawyers.

Justice Okon Abang had earlier said the bail application filed by the accused lawyers be withdrawn as they can not file a bail application before a case is heard which the lawyers to Badeh led by Mr Samuel Zibiri was immediately withdrawn.

On the absence of Air Marshall Alex Badeh Rtd in court today the Judge said his presence could be dispensed with under section 266 of the administrative of criminal justice  Act since the proceedings were for the hearing of a bail application. Counsel to EFCC Mr Rotimi Jacobs SAN however opposed the bail application urging the Judge not to grant Badeh any bail saying the former Chief of Defence staff actually perpetrated the fraud together with Iyalikam Nigeria Ltd officials while he was the chief of Air Staff sometimes in 2013 under the Goodluck Jonathan administration.
Reports reaching us says Air Marshall Alex Badeh has been granted bail with a sum of 2 Billion Naira and two sureties by Justice Okon Abang.
