Detained Ekiti Lawmaker Afolabi Akanni Not Dead But Critically Sick

The Ekiti state House of ssembly member detained by the directorate of state security which was rumoured to have died in detention earlier today has been paraded by the state security operatives this evening looking very weak and pale.


The rumour which gained momentum in the afternoon was announced by the Ekiti state Commissioner for information Mr Lanre Ogunsuyi that Hon Afolabi Akanni has died in the detention of DSS was received with with shock by his party faithfuls the Peoples Democratic Party and tension was beginning to gather around the state according to feelers from Ado Ekiti the state capital.
The DSS, having got wind of the development quickly arranged apress briefing where Akanni was paraded unable to walk and looking very sick obviously from torture from the Directorate of State Securities men.

A federal court in Ado Ekiti has ordered the immediate release of the lawmaker six days earlier but according to reports the DSS said it did not get a copy of the judgement which directed them to release the detained lawmaker. It is still not knowN as at the time of parading the lawmaker if thYe have seen the judgment but, Hon, Afolabi Akanni is still in their detention as at the time of this report.

Akanni who represents Efon Constituency at the state's House Assembly had been in the custody of the DSS since March4th 2016 was paraded by the security agents before journalist in Abuja this evening.
