The controversial recruitment, first came to light some weeks ago, but SaharaReporters just exclusively obtained the names of the beneficiaries and thier source of being employed by the CBN.
This leaked irregular employment by the CBN caused a great embarrassment for the government and the apex bank. The Central Bank Director of Human Resources, Chizoba Mojekwu, was recently reported to have been redeployed as the bank’s Director of Capacity Development and IT after CBN Governor, Mr. Godwin Emefiele, accused her of being behind the leaked list of these influential shoddy recruitment
.
A top official of the CBN told reporters that Mr. Emefiele arranged the hiring of relatives of top party leaders and powerful government officials as a strategy for him to retain his job amidst various policies taken during the last administration and in a bid to save his job under the Buhari government.
All in the bid to make the names of these influential names appear ordinary, reports says the CBN most times went to great lengths, including interchanging the names of recruits, in order to hide their identities, the CBN often used the beneficiaries’ first names and their father’s middle names to hide their real identities. For example the bank used Maryam Atiku as “Maryam Abubakar.” and in other cases, the bank entered the name of the son of Nigeria’s Minister of Interior, Abdulrahman Dambazau, as “Nagode Abdulrahman. The Bank also uses the middle name of their influential parents as the recruits surname.
These recruitments are outright illegal and irregular simply because the CBN did not advertise the vacancies in order to allow opportunities to all qualified Nigerians to apply for the jobs. Also, the bank’s highly placed individual's family and relatives recruitments did not follow principles of federal character set out for employment by government agencies and other public institutions. “Jobs were just handed to the children of ministers and political associates in the current Buhari led administration, says one of the apex bank's official. Disturbing also from these illegal recruitment was that the recruit were asked to pick thier preffered department after they got their employment letters.
