The prime suspect in the
deadly Paris terrorist attacks last November has been wounded and captured in a
police raid in Belgian capital Brussels. Salah Abdeslam was shot in the leg by
police and arrested in the neighborhood of Molenbeek
where Abdeslam and police exchanged gunfire while two other suspects were also
arrested and taken into custody.
The raid and subsequent investigation showed more people were involved in the Paris attacks than anti terror police initially thought. The attack on Paris on 13 November 2015 which killed almost 130 persons and was carried out by gun and bomb in a theatre, the national stadium where a match was being played as at the time of the attack and also at various cafes and bar around the city.
According to the French President Francois Hollande, he said France will seek Abddeslam’ extradition which should happen quickly because of Belgium’s cooperation saying “We got him” referring to Abdeslam.
Salah Abdeslam 26 whose brother blew himself up during the attack in Paris in November, is a Belgian-born terrorist of French and Moroccan nationality, who is suspected of engaging in acts of militancy due to him being accused of crimes of terrorism in France was the ring leader of the coordinated attacks and was said to be one of the suspects who went on the run after a shoot-out with Police in the raid yesterday wounded in the gun battle and arrested after four months of fugitive.
