Tragedy struck at the Otedola Bridge along the Lagos Ibadan Express way yesterday 12th March as a truck carrying Container had a brake failure and hit cars in front of it killing a United Kingdom returnee who just landed in Nigeria that same day on the spot around 7:15am
The deceased who only returned to Nigeria that morning was said to have opted to drive the car home despite the brother being the one who drove the car to the airport to pick him. The victim was trapped in the hilux Car for several minutes why rescue operations was going on by the men of that Road Safety Corps and Lagos State Traffic Management Authority LASTMA who did all they could to bring out the trapped victim out of the wreckage.
All efforts to bring the returnee out of the badly damaged car took another dimension when the car he was trapped in caught fire and people came around to put off the fire, however it was too late as the victim didn't make it but his brother survived the accident.
The trailer carrying Container was said to have rammed into the Hilux Car when it lost control after its brake failed while descending the bridge shortly after the Mobil Filling station before the bridge which the UK returnee was driving and caused a multiple accident hitting several cars in font. The accident which caused a terrible traffic was in standstill for several hours of mostly travellers out-of Lagos and later resulted to gridlock on both lanes of the road.
