Senate President Dr. Bukola Saraki arrived the code of conduct Tribunal for his trial at about 10 with about 30 senators. Chief among the 30 senators who stormed the CCT in solidarity with the senate president at today's sitting are Sen.Ike Ekweremadu, Ben Murray-Bruce, Dino Melaye, Stella Oduah, Samuel Anyanwu and a host of others.

The Senate President who was expected to be confronted by witnesses that will testify that he lied in the assets declaration forms he submitted to the Code of Conduct Bureau, CCB during his time as Governor of Kwara State between 2003 and 2011.In the 13-count charge of false assets declaration filed against the Senate President by the Tribunal in September, 2015, CCB had alleged that he made false claims in the four assets declarations forms he submitted on his assumption and exit from office at different times between 2003 and 2011.

Significantly, the Senate President was alleged to have corruptly acquired many properties while in office as Governor of Kwara State. According to CCB some of the assets traced to Saraki at the end of his tenure as governor were not declared in the assets declaration forms he filled and submitted on assumption of office. Consequently, Saraki was accused of declaring assets he was yet to acquire in the assets declaration form when he filled the form most of which he acquired while in office as the Governor of Kwara state.

The trial was however adjourned till 18th of March 2016 as pleaded by the lawyers to Senator Saraki Mr Kanu Agabi who was accompanied also by 65 other lawyers to the court.
