In a statement issued on Sunday evening by the media aide to the vice President Laolu Akande, he said the Minister of Industry, Trade and investment Mr Okechukwu Enelemah would now lead the Nigerian delegation to the summit India to avoid a clash between the President and Vice President visits out of Nigeria at the same.
President Muhammadu Buhari is travelling to Equatorial Guinea this week for a bilateral and trade discussion with the nation's President while Vice President Osinbajo goes to India. In a bid to avoid making Senate President Bukola Saraki the Acting President while both are away, the Presidency quickly took the decision to cancel the Vice President's trip and was replaced by the Honourable Minister Of Industry Trade And Investment.
According to Akande, "Nigeria has been invited to the Indian/African summit and the minister of industry, trade and investment will be leading a delegation to the event. There is nothing like cancellation. Remember that the visit of the Vice President to any country is not treated in secrecy. Whenever the Vice President is to travel out of the country, we inform Nigerians.”
