Confirming Yunusa’s release from prison, Lawyer to the accused, Mr Kayode Olaosebikan (SAN) said his people has secured his bail from Okaka prison in Yenogoa and had taken him to Kano his state of origin and residence after spending over 4 months in Prison.
Yunusa Dahiru a Tricycle operator popularly called Keke
Napep was able to secure the services a legal team comprising of a senior
advocate of Nigeria SAN and has been on legal battle since the case started on
March 2016 following the bail conditions given by Justice Ajiya Nganjiwa of the
Federal High Court in Yenagoa Bayelsa state. The Judge had set a N3,000,000
bail and two sureties in like sum, resident within the jurisdiction of the
court also, one of the sureties must be a traditional title holder and the
second must be a civil servant on grade level 12 or above as conditions for his
bail.
The presiding Judge however relaxed the bail condition
based on plea from the accused Lawyers who told the Court some of the bail
conditions could not be met. Based on his pleas, the court reduce the bail
condition to allow any traditional title holder from any part of the country
and also a civil servant of Grade Level 09 was accepted as new bail conditions.
The judge who on Friday July 8th 2016
adjourned the trial to 13th September for further cross examination
of Ese Oruru by Yunusa’s defense counsel led by a SAN. It was reported that
Dahiru Yunusa was able to secure his bail on Friday and was released that same
day and taken to Kano.
According to reports, Dahiru Yunusa was able to take a
flight down to Kano on Saturday and was welcomed like a “Hero” in his home by
his family and friends in Kano. The questions on everybody’s lips is how did a
Keke NAPEP operator in Kano was able to secure the services of a SAN, was able to raise N3million and also had money to take flight to Kano after four months
in prison. He was even captured at the airport while waiting at the departure
lounge of the airport. If Tricycle business is that lucrative then Nigerian
jobless graduates has no reason to complain again as Keke NAPEP is there to
change their lives for good.
