APC, CNPP Stage Anti-Fayose Protest In Ekiti Calls For Governor's Resignation.

There was protest on the streets of Ado Ekiti the Ekiti state capital today Thursday July 7 by the All Progressive Congress APC  members and Conference of Nigeria Political Parties CNPP and some youths from the state tertiary Institution to demand the resignation of the Governor over what they called massie corruption allegations against him. The governor was accused of looting the state treasury by the seemingly organized protesters who marched from the popular Fajuyi Park in the state capital through Oke iyinmi and ended at Ijigbo Area.

The protesters equally demanded the governor to waive the immunity he enjoys to allow for prosecution of the Corruption charges against him by Economic and Financial Crimes Commision EFCC over arm deals fund believed to have been moved to governors accounts from the office of the National Security Adviser ONSA Col. Sambo Dasuki (retd.) and erstwhile Minister of defence state II Musiliu Obanikoro in 2014.

The EFCC has penultimate week frozen the embattled Governor’s personal account with Zenith Bank over what the anti-graft agency termed the recipient of about 4.7 billion arms money meant for arm procurement in the ongoing fight against boko haram in the North Eastern part of the country believed to have been looted or stolen by the former ONSA Col. Dasuki and with the help of Obanikoro’s 2 sons was diverted to fund Gov. Ayo Fayose’s election in 2014.

The protesters were seen carrying several placards with various inscriptions like “ Fayose is not abve the Law”” Impunity is Not Immunity” EFCC please probe Fayose’s account in Access Bank” etc. APC deputy Chairman in Ekiti state said in her speech that EFCC should investigate Fayose other accounts in other banks especially Access Bank saying what the governor has in Access bank is mind blowing adding that the governor has only been looting the state since he came back as the Governor.

The Conference of Nigeria Political Party in its own assertion asked the 17 members of the Ekiti state House of Assembly alleged to have falsified their certificates to submit themselves for prosecution. Although the CNPP spokesman did not mention the names of the honourable members who he accused of falsifying their certificates he however advised them to present themselves for investigation and possible prosecution.

The APC had through its state publicity secretary, Hon. Taiwo Olatunbosun yesterday 6th July announced to the public that there will be a protest organized by the party and will have all lovers of democracy and good governance including civil society groups’ artisans, workers, Trade groups and the entire public to the solidarity rally to drum support for the anti corruption crusade of the  President Muhammadu Buhari led government.
