The former Minister of Aviation
under President Goodluck Jonathan administration Mrs Stella Oduah- Ogiemwonyi has come out to deny the allegations levied
against her by an America based online news outfit Sahara Reporters over an
account purportedly opened in her housemaid name in one of the banks in Nigeria
containing about N2.5 billion. According to Sahara Reporters the housemaid was
neither aware or operated the accounted it was revealed that the account has
Mrs Oduah as the sole signatory and the account is still very active till last
week according to the online news sources in Economic and Financial Crimes Commission
EFCC.

The former Minister who spoke
through her Media assistant said that Sahara Reporters has been on her neck for
a while now and that they are only out to tarnish her image and get cheap
popularity with the media trials and persecution of perceived enemy of the
present government and the opposition party members. She pointed out that the
online news should produce any evidence it has on the allegation and make such
public for all to see.
The senator representing Anambra
state at the Senate also challenged Sahara Reporters to name those it called
the sources in EFCC who has been given out such lies about her. She said Sahara
reporters has tried to rubbish her since she was a minister with the false allegations
of her stashing over N5.6 billion from the ministry of Aviation which was later
reduced to N3.6 billion by the online news agency pointing out that she is
waiting for them to produce evidence of such an account existence and her link
to it.
Senator Stella Odua has been involved
in so many controversies ranging from highly inflated purchase of 2 units of
BMW bullet-proof cars without following due process. Also Sahara Reporters had
in the past accused Mrs Oduah of presenting fake certificates from St. Paul’s
College where Mrs Stella Oduah had claimed she studied and was awarded
bachelors and Masters degrees from the institution saying the school did not
award her an MBA at any time as the University does not even have a graduate
school or post- graduate of such programme.
Mrs stella Oduah-Ogiemwonyi was
born to Igwe D.O. Oduah of Akili-Ozizor local government area in Anambra state
on January 5, 1962. She had her Bachelors and Masters Degree in Accounting and
Business Administration respectively in the United States and joined Nigerian
National Petroleum Corporation NNPC upon her return to Nigeria in 1983. She establish
the Sea Petroleum & Gas Company Limited SPG in 1992 a petroleum and
products marketing company when she left NNPC same year. She was married to
former Minister of Works Engr. Chris Ogiemwonyi. Mrs Oduah was one of the six
women elected as a senator in Nigeria in 2015 representing Anambra state at the
8th assembly.
