My Election Was Not Funded With Arms Deal Fund, Fayose Speaks Out After Anti-Fayose Protest

The Ekiti State Governor Ayodele Fayose took to the streets of Ado Ekiti yesterday to have a feel of the town shortly after the All Progressive Congress APC and Conference e of Nigeria Political Party CNPP organized protest march calling for the governors prosecution over the massive corruption allegations levied against him by the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission EFCC over arms deal fund traced to his personal bank account in Zenith Bank Plc. The protesters who were joined by youths and members of the public monitored by the security agents displayed various placards with inscriptions accusing the governor of looting the state treasury and rendering the state financially crippled.

Fayose in his characteristic manner during the street walk get freely with the people of the state capital and in his usual ways presented a grinding machine to an aged woman as a gift. The woman was excited and in tears of joy when she was given the grinding machine and was all full of prayers for the governor. The governor after the street walk went to the social media to inform the people of the state of his travail and the plans his government has for the state. Tagged FayoseSpeaks monitored via his Special Assistant on Publicity and new media Mr. Lere Olayinka twitter handle.

The Governor started by saying the All Progress Congress APC had opportunity in Ekiti when Dr. Kayode Fayemi was the governor but the misused its opportunity to make its mark on the state. He said he was the  one who dualised  the Ado Ekiti -Ikere road during his first term as Governor of the state in 2003-2006 and the Fayemi administration left left the road dilapidated. Fayose said he has rehabilitated the road and it is being extended now. On the new flyover being constructed in the state capital to ease traffic and congestion Fayose said everyone will see the 1.2 kilometre flyover bridge that his Government is embarking on which is ongoing and will be completed within the next 6 months.

On the financial position of the state, Fayose said Ekiti State got N900m in June and N1.3bn from the Federal Government as bailout. He added that by the end of the month of July his government is starting a social welfare scheme in which 7,000 people will be getting N5,000 per month, the category of the people who will benefit from this scheme according to the governor was not however given.

On his perceived persecution by  the government of President Muhammadu Buhari over his critical attack and views about his style of government, Governor Fayose said all the stories being circulated about him are not true and its all conspiracy to to get him out of office like the former president Olusegun Obasanjo did in 2006. He equivocally said If he returned to government on his own, he will be removed from the position. But if it's by the power of God, he will never be removed as the governor of Ekiti state. He maintained that his party the Peoples Democratic Party ruled the county for 16 years and never prevented Nigerians from talking. “APC is a party that won't let Nigerians talk but I will continue to talk” Fayose says.

On the alleged arms deal fund traced to his personal account with Zenith Bank to win the Governorship election in 2014, he said he did not get money from the ONSA of Col. Sambo Dasuki to fund his election. “It is just conspiracy; it will fail like that of 2006. I declared in my Assets Declaration Form that I had N300m in my fixed Deposit Account in Zenith Bank“ the governor added.
